Huawei has just presented the next generation of processors for top mobile devices at the IFA 2019 in Berlin. The chipset supports 5G connectivity. The first smartphone to get it will be Huawei Mate 30.
Huawei presented the latest generation of processors for flagship devices. Only a little later will the processor go to Huawei smartphones. The first will be Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Given that the presentation of the phone is announced on September 19, we will not have to wait long to test the capabilities of the new processor.
And these are really impressive. Kirin 990 will be a competitor for the most powerful processors from Samsung (Exynos) and Qualcomm (Snapdragon). It was made in a 7-nanometer technological process, which allowed an additional increase in performance, and also energy efficiency of the chipset. Huawei boasts that the Kirin 990 will be faster than the Snapdragon 855.
The Kirin 990 will be powered by two 2.86 GHz cores, two 2.09 GHz and four cost-effective 1.86 GHz cores. In the case of the Kirin 990 5G, the last two core groups are clocked higher. They work at 2.36 and 1.95 GHz respectively. Both processors will be supported by the Mali-G76 graphics card.
Kirin 990 5G will be slightly more efficient. However, it was also made in a slightly newer technological process. Of course, the biggest advantage over the “normal” Kirin 990 will be the ability to connect to a 5G network.
